The Incas had messengers to carry messages throughout the Inca empire. These messengers were called Chasquis. Chasquies were runners that carried a special item called a quipus. Assorted strings with knots tied to it in various places to represent numbers. They carried these quipus's through out the Inca empire. The Chasquis would run and stop at different stations to carry on the message said by the quipus, then they would rest. Chasquis would run day and night in order to carry the message on to others.
