Religion
The Inca's believed in many gods, like rain and the ocean gods. They all thought that by worshiping these various gods, their daily life would improve. Although they believed in all kinds of gods, there was one that was the most important. Inti, he was the most royal of them all, he was their sun god. The Inca's worshiped Inti the most because he was their base of agriculture, and in Inca society, that was an everyday teaching. Some religious practices they performed in order to worship Inti were sacrifice, divination, and the chosen women. They performed mostly animal sacrifices, and chose to only sacrifice a human on only the most special of occasions. They also performed divination. Divination is the art of telling the future through religious reasons. They used divination many times in order to decide what to do or when to start a war. Lastly, The Inca's had chosen women. Chosen women were girls between eight and ten that are taken to live in convents, where they were taught about their religion. They learned how to create special foods, beverages, and garments for religious ceremonies and the emperor. These are some aspects of religion in the Inca civilization. They believed in many gods, had many religious practices, and even had small traditions such as the chosen women.
