The fall of the Incas was a long and harsh one at that. Spanish explorer Francisco Pizarro set out to the Inca empire along with his 167 other men. They hoped to find riches, gold and silver of all sorts. Before the Spanish came though, the Incas were having trouble of their own, the Sapa Inca had recently died without choosing a heir. This started a civil war because both of his sons wanted to be the new Sapa Inca. In the end, Atahualpa had won. This made it that much easier for the Spanish to come into the Inca empire. Atahualpa believed that he could easily kill the Spanish, so he let them pass through the empire, how wrong was he in making that choice. The Spanish stayed over night in order the meet the Sapa Inca the next morning. There, when he arrived, the Spanish grabbed the Sapa Inca and killed all that were with him. The Sapa Inca realized all they wanted was riches, so the Sapa Inca promised them a lot of just that if they let him free. The Sapa Inca kept his word, but the Spanish did not. As soon as they received their riches, they killed the Sapa Inca and fled the Inca empire. They came back some time later, with diseases, horses, and guns, in order to completely defeat the once great civilization, The Incas.
